Jehovah's Witnesses and 2012

I find it interesting that Jehovah's Witnesses and the 2012 fervor seem to mix like oil and water.

Matter of fact the psychology on the part of the Witnesses seems to be more of "ignore it and it will go away".

This is not surprising due to the stance the Witnesses have taken toward doomsday prophecies. Witnesses have always shown due concern for whatever dates that they themselves set. Dates that the world happen upon are considered fads and deserve no print time.

Just the existence of some future date that is relatively noted by the population places the JWs on edge. They have no response for it.

First of all, can they refute the date as bogus? This will call into question their own dates they have set in the past. All of which came to nothing.

Can they agree with the date? Well they could but this would require research that is based off of or agrees with worldly reasoning and that would further discredit the organization.

How about utter and total silence on the issue? This is the safest option because all they have to do is wait and hope beyond hope that nothing occurs so that after the fact they can smugly infer that the world's dates are wrong and they have the only truth.

During the wait time, it looks pretty pathetic if you think about it. One of the most vocal organizations about end-time dates and you here absolutely nothing about it from them. We can take the silence to possibly mean that they don't want to talk against it because they don't absolutely know for sure that 2012 is not a significant date. This speaks against their prophetic stance. If they are truly God's prophet then tell me yes or no that 2012 is not significant. They should know right?
